Beauty is a beast

Beauty is painful, time consuming and freakin expensive. I don’t wear a lot of makeup, don’t do a lot with my hair, but I do spend time keeping my skin and hair healthy. Part of that is all the facial creams, treatments and habits I go through. I start every week with Mask Monday (a thing my girls and I started a while ago), I wash my face with a cream, foaming face wash in the morning and a natural exfoliator at night. I use and extremely expensive eye cream and anti aging serum after and a night repair eye and face product at night. I use coconut oil in my hair once a week and organic shampoo and conditioner. I have a great leave in conditioner and smoothing cream that I use. We make a moisturizing body scrub that I use at least once a week. Yeah, my showers are ridiculously long, so I thank god everyday for the tankless water heater that this house has. Endless hot water is a beautiful thing folks, I can promise you that. I try to drink all the water I can everyday, in fact other than the 2 cups of coffee I allow myself a day and the occasional couple of alcoholic beverages I have, I only drink water. I try not to put too many chemicals in or on my body. I do lack in the sun screen department, but I don’t spend too much time baking in the sun. Now comes the most unreal part. I take supplements. That’s not the shocking part, though. So, here’s the run down: I take a multi vitamin, a cranberry extract supplement (for my shitty kidneys), apple cider vinegar supplement (for hair and skin), biotin (for hair skin and nails) and collagen (for my damn skin). When I get up in the morning I take all of these supplements, which doesn’t sound too bad until you realize that a daily dose of collagen is 6 freakin pills. SIX PILLS!!! That is a ton to swallow before I can even have coffee in the morning (the bloody collagen requires an empty stomach for absorption). Each day I get up and count out this mass of pills (Yes, I have to count before I have any caffeine, which is total BS, I’m just sayin) that I hurry to cram down my throat so I can get to the coffee faster. Anyway, my damn hair, skin and nails better look like I’m 25 for all the maintenance it requires. It requires more product and attention that a whiny teen. Okay, that’s enough for one night. I have to go get in the shower and start my beauty routine so I can get some sleep at some point tonight. Hope all is well out there!!
