Rain drops keep falling on my head

I believe it’s now monsoon season here in sunny FLA. It started raining long before dawn this morning and I’m not sure if it will ever stop again. Honestly, I love the rain, but not when it interferes in my plans for the day. I have not gotten to my walk yet today because I really do not want to spend an hour and a half soaking wet and freezing (I hate being cold, I think I have mentioned this before. In fact, I would rather be suffering a heat stroke than hypothermia), and I really don’t want to ruin my nikes (these are the absolute best pair of sneakers I have ever had, and I love the color, so I don’t want to trash them just to get my steps in for the day), so yay rain. To make my day absolutely complete, we are under a tropical storm warning here in this part of the gulf coast, not that there is officially a tropical storm yet. Instead, we have tropical depression 9, which totally lacks the thrill of a named storm. Of course, the worst storm we have ever experienced in this part of the state was a storm without a name (the no name storm of 1993). Anyway, so here I am waiting for the school district to make a call on whether or not to close schools tomorrow, which I am praying they will keep schools open. Not only do I want the peace that I experience while half the kids are at school, but I also don’t think that this will be anything more than a rain event (to interfere with my walks). This rain is supposed to be an on and off thing, though so far it’s been on, and is supposed to taper off by this weekend. Although, if it continues to rain for that long, the whole state will be under water. I guess if that happens, then they should close schools, this way I can get the kids started on building an arc.

Update: All schools in this district are closed tomorrow…time to build the arc folks!
